We want to make sure you know what's happening down the road as well
as what's happened. We've realized this past year that not
all recent events are happy ones and will post both the sad and joyous
events here.
Upcoming Events:
Stay tuned for announcements of upcoming events!! Take time to look at our Fund Raising page and get all the details
about ways you can help Doxy's continue to recover, rehabilitate and re-home good horses.

A cold, snowy
day didn’t stop folks from visiting Doxy’s at Vestal Tractor Supply on December
14, 2013. Mrs. Claus brought along one
of Santa’s elves to help her and Smokey and The Bandit. A special visitor
stopped by with Richard, a
macaw, and Oliver, a cockatoo, to have their photos taken with us. We so enjoyed
meeting each one of you and
hope you’ll remember Doxy’s when you think of good horses that should not be
slaughtered when they can be adopted and loved.
To
the volunteers who helped - " The world is hugged by the faithful arms of
volunteers.” - Terri Guillemets
We can never
express our gratitude to those who attended and so generously donated to help
support Doxy’s. Tractor Supply has been,
and continues to be, so supportive of our efforts to promote Doxy’s and help in
any way they can with our events. As we
say, Clyde and Doxy’s horses love and thank you from the bottom of their equine
hearts.
Merry
Christmas and best wishes for a very happy 2014!!

Clyde and Ellie went to work at the 3rd
annual Duck Derby on September 7, 2013.
These 2 little ones did a great job representing Doxy’s on a fun filled
afternoon. Dee Sullivan, the mother of
one of our volunteers, won the raffle for the Hunter Horse quilt.
The Broome County Humane Society
sold 10,000 rubber ducks at $5 each for the 3rd annual Duck Derby. Plans to
race the ducks down the Chenango
River were squashed due to fast currents, so organizers switched to Plan B,
send their dogs into a duck pile to fetch the winners at random. Humane
Society animal shelter manager Laurie Hubik and a 2 1/2-year-old pit bull mix
named Smokey fetched the winning rubber ducks
The
first three to finish the derby took home cash prizes: $3,500 for 1st place,
$1,000 for 2nd place, and $500 for 3rd place. The respective winners were
Binghamton residents Dustin Melville, Nadine Garafalo, and William Scharnikow.

Many thanks to everyone who stopped by, showing their
support and for their donations. As
we always say, “Clyde and Doxy’s horses
thank you”.
Some great kids, Alex, Jailyn, Aurora, Brayden, and Katie riding Doxy's horses and Michael giving Rocket
a turn around the ring.
A beautiful summer day to meet and greet
many new people and catch up with a few familiar faces! We shared the
spot light at Tractor Supply
in Vestal with N.E.PR.A.S., NorthEast Pit Rescue and Sanctuary, a new non-profit
dog rescue located in Kirkwood, NY.
August 17, 2013 is dedicated as Pet Appreciation and Adoption Day. The
3rd Saturday of August each
year has been designated for the past 22 years by the International Society for
Animal Rights to heighten awareness of homeless animals and the basic root of
this, over population through breeding..
Clyde, Jasmine, Rocket, Sassy, and Candy
were on their best behavior giving rides to many toddlers and young
people. Their rewards included dried
horse apple slices and alfalfa cubes along with lots of attention from their
visitors. Doxy’s horses can never get
enough of people and always enjoy these days when they’re “working” and having
a good time.

Many thanks to everyone who stopped by, showing their
support by attending our meet and greet, for their donations and to Vestal
Tractor Supply for hosting us. As we
always say, “Clyde and Doxy’s horses thank you”.

Doxy’s
was recently honored as the recipient of a Tractor Supply Operation grant
through a partnership between Tractor Supply and the Petfinder Foundation which
is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending euthanasia of adoptable pets.
We
wish to extend our thanks and appreciation to the Petfinder Foundation for
continuing to form partnerships that benefit the efforts of all non-profit
animal rescues.
Doxy’s
will be providing a written report on how the grant was used and the results
achieved with it by September 25, 2013 and will share this with the public on
our website and on our Facebook page.

Clyde, Candy, Magnum, and Noni, enjoyed
meeting new people and behaved like the good horses they are every day. Well
except for Candy and Noni who decided to
have a little kicking match after they were finished working. That young little
pony found out that Noni
might be older but she’s bigger and one tough mare!
Our star rider for the day was little
Aiden, a 2 year old cowboy who will soon celebrate his 3rd
birthday. He rode every one of Doxy’s
horses with his grandmother beaming.
Grandma has her own horse and loved seeing Aiden so brave and eager to
ride each horse. Grandma's friend, Peg, also tried Magnum out!
A special thank you to Brenna, who’s adopting
Sable, for spending a few days at Doxy’s and helping us out today. –“When
it comes to helping, some people
stop at nothing.” — Unknown
Thanks to everyone who stopped by, showing their support
by
attending our meet and greet and for your donations. A big thank you to East
Syracuse’s Tractor
Supply for hosting us!! As we
always say, “Clyde and Doxy’s horses
thank you”.
Smokey and The Bandit went to work on June 29, 2013 for a
donation to Doxy’s. They entertained
children ages 3-6 at little Lyla’s birthday party. The boys continue to
represent Doxy’s as
special ambassadors. Thanks guys!!
Showers, grey skies and cool temperatures
couldn’t keep Doxy’s from having a great turn out at our first Meet and Greet
of the 2013 season. People of all ages
and some from a few other countries stopped by the find out about us, have a
pony ride, feed the horses some treats, and even one horse woman who took Niko
out for a spin.
Clyde, Sassy, Zeus, Clover, Noni, and Niko
enjoyed the attention and were on their best behavior, well except for Sassy
who wanted to keep Zeus all to herself.
To the 3 volunteers who helped – "There's nothing stronger than the
heart of a volunteer." — James
Doolittle
Many thanks to everyone who stopped by, showing their
support by attending our meet and greet and for your donations. A big thank
you to Cortland’s Tractor Supply
for hosting us!! As we say, “Clyde
and Doxy’s horses thank
you”.

A great
shot of the Doxy's team which participated in the Afton Playground 5K Walk/Run on May 25, 2013 and a very nice note of thanks
from the Student Advisory Council.
Doxy's had a team of 8
riders and horses in the annual St. Jude Trail Ride, sponsored by Rex Farms, on
May 18, 2013. Riders included Marilyn,
Michael, Kitty, Laurie, Diane, Danielle, Leah, and Francine. Awesome horses
included Sweetie Boy, Fortune
(his last appearance for Doxy’s, leaving for his new home on May 20th),
Jasmine, Black Jack, Raj, Pepper, Rocket, and Amber. A tentative grand total
of $2,900 was raised
by the participants for the ride on a spectacular day. Doxy's riders placed
first, second and fourth with their financial sponsors. We will be updating
this event as we receive more information.
Many thanks to those who sponsored us!!

Doxy’s
ambassadors, Smokey and The Bandit, made an appearance at Chester B. Lord Day
Program again on April 26, 2013. They spent their time being petted and talked
to by the special folks in this program and celebrated Kathey Hodgeman’s
retirement. Kathey has been a volunteer for Doxy’s almost from the beginning.
The minis enjoyed their day at work, entertained many and congratulated Kathey
on her next step into retirement.

Doxy’s was in the limelight along
with Hubbard Hounds from Homer, NY and Pit City Rescue from Auburn, NY at
Cortland’s Tractor Supply on April 6, 2013.
This was our first guest appearance at TS in Cortland and we’ve been
invited back on June 8th when we will have some of Doxy’s “finest”
horses along with us for the day.
People stopped by to meet us and
find out what we do. Diane, Kathey and
Lynn Durkin made this possible by volunteering their time to represent Doxy’s –
thanks girls! We were right up front and
had a laptop set up with a slideshow running so people could see our horses –
great idea Diane!! Tractor Supply was awesome, as
usual, in coordinating this event and gave us a $30 gift certificate along with
a split of the proceeds from a bake sale arranged by the Darrin,Tractor Supply
coordinator’s wife and daughter, Monique and Kylie, and friend and her
daughter, Charisse and Lorelli who made baked goods for dogs and people.

What a great turn out we had on March 9, 2013 when we teamed up with Doug’s
Fish Fry at Tractor Supply in Vestal, NY, thanks to Robin who set up this event!! Mother
Nature took care of us in style with a spectacular day and people came out for great fish, baked goods and quilt raffle tickets.
To the volunteers who helped - " Volunteers don't just do the work ~ they make it work.” -Carol Pettit
As we say, Clyde and Doxy’s horses love and thank you from the bottom
of their equine hearts.
Bands played in the party barn and
the Inn during the entire event. People danced, partied, and spent the day with
friends, all for a good cause.
Doxy’s, K.A.R.E., Lost Paws,
and Project Pawz were the honored shelters to receive the proceeds from Shelter Slam 4.
We thank all who came out on a dreary February 23, 2013 day to support these shelters
